LRS takes two from CES ‘A,’ in control of National League

The 28th Logistics Readiness Squadron swept the two-game regular season series from the 28th Civil Engineer Squadron ‘A’ team, winning 52-48 Jan. 24 and 45-42 Jan. 26 at the Bellamy Fitness Center to claim sole possession of first place in the base intramural basketball National League.

Elliot Young led the way for LRS in the first contest with a game-high 17 points. Kenneth Ireland added 10 points in the victory. Mitchell Zipprich scored 14 for CES ‘A’ in defeat.

LRS (6-0) took game two with a balanced attack including 8 points from Kyle Rogier and 7 from Young. Zipprich scored 14 for CES ‘A’ (4-2).

28th AMXS 48, 28th SFS 36

The 28th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron beat the 28th Security Forces Squadron, 48-36, Jan. 23 in intramural basketball American League play at the fitness center.

Carl Richardson scored 12 points for AMXS. Roderick Groomster led all scorers with 14 for SFS.

28th MDG/28th SVS 68, 28th CES ‘B’ 47

The 28th Medical Group/28th Services Squadron throttled the 28th CES ‘B’ team Jan. 23 at the fitness center, 68-47, to snap a first-place tie atop the intramural basketball American League standings.

Joshua Trenkle, Rodrigus Bowden and Tony Carter all scored in double figures to lead MDG/SVS to victory. Trenkle’s 17 led all scorers. Germany Lucas scored 14 for CES ‘B.’

28th MXS 58, 28th OSS 46

The 28th Maintenance Squa-dron upended the 28th Oper-ations Support Squadron, 58-46, Jan. 23 in intramural basketball American League action at the fitness center.

Randall Parrish scored a season-high 29 points in the win for MXS. Tino Redhouse led OSS with 22 points.

34th BS/37th BS 58, 28th MUNS 56

The 34th Bomb Squadron/37th BS squeaked by the 28th Munitions Squadron, 58-56, Jan. 24 in intramural basketball National League action at the fitness center.

Justin Calmes scored 15 points and Evan Gallegos added 12 for the bomb squadrons’ victory. Woodard Moore netted a game-high 16, and James Heatherly and Antwon Teverbaugh scored 13 apiece for MUNS.

28th CS 49, 28th CPTS/28th CONS 26

The 28th Communications Squadron handled the 28th Comptroller Squadron/28th Contracting Squadron, 49-46, Jan. 24 in an intramural basketball National League game at the fitness center.

Mark Jorgensen paced CS with 22 points to lead all scorers. Dominic Calcutt added 13 points in the victory. Anthony Rosen scored 12 to lead CPTS/CONS.

28th AMXS 43, 28th SFS 23

AMXS breezed past SFS, 43-23, Jan. 25 in intramural basketball American League play at the fitness center.

Jammieon Collins and Richardson led the way for AMXS (3-2), scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. Jonathan Hawkins led SFS (1-4) with 5 points.

28th MDG/SVS 50, 28th CES ‘B’ 40

MDG/SVS opened a two-game lead in the intramural basketball American League with a 50-40 win over CES ‘B’ (3-2) Jan. 25 at the fitness center.

Carter led MDG/SVS (5-0) with 14 points, and DeShon Vinette added 12 more in victory.

28th CS 61, 28th CPTS/28th CONS 42

CS completed a two-game sweep of CPTS/CONS in intramural basketball National League play with a 61-42 victory Jan. 26 at the fitness center.

Jorgensen and Calcutt scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the CS (3-3) win. Jason Fuqua kept CPTS/CONS (0-6) in the game with a game-high 25 points.

34th BS/37th BS 48, 28th MUNS 29

The bomb squadrons completed an intramural basketball National League sweep of MUNS with a 48-29 win Jan. 26 at the fitness center.

Justin Nightingale scored 22 in the bomb squadrons’ (4-2) victory.
