Col. Kevin Kennedy is commander of the 28th Bomb Wing, Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., the largest B-1 combat wing in the U.S. Air Force, with 27 aircraft and more than 4,300 military and civilian members. The wing is also home to the 432nd Attack Squadron, which controls the MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft.

Colonel Kennedy received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1990 and completed undergraduate pilot training at Williams AFB, Ariz. He has served in a variety of flying and staff positions, to include: Assistant Director of Operations, B-1 Division, U.S. Air Force Weapons School at Ellsworth AFB, S.D.; Branch Chief, Quadrennial Defense Review Special Projects, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.; Commander, 34th Bomb Squadron, Ellsworth AFB, S.D.; Joint Force Structure Analyst, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; and Vice Commander, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Southwest Asia.

Prior to this assignment, Colonel Kennedy was the Director of the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff's Strategic Studies Group. In that capacity, Colonel Kennedy guided the SSG in supporting the Chief of Staff of the Air Force in his role as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff by providing strategic assessments, options and recommendations concerning military strategy and national security strategy with specific emphasis on Air Force contributions.

Colonel Kennedy is a command pilot with more than 3,200 flight hours in the B-1B and T 38 Talon.
