The 28th Force Support Squadron hosts a Chef of the Quarter cook-off at the Raider Café on Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., Dec. 18, 2019. Contestants were split into three teams and were required to produce a dish that incorporated two secret ingredients.
A teacher in Ghana has aspirations. She wants to see the world and all that it has to offer and thinks of what her future has in store for her. She yearns to see new places and experience the sights and smells that come with them – to meet new people and form new relationships. In 2013 her travels brought her to the U.S. Three years later, she enlisted in the Air Force.
Tech. Sgt. Dustin Jespersen, a 28th Operations Squadron survival, evasion, resistance and escape specialist, was announced as the 2018 Air Rescue Association Richard T. Kight Award winner. The Air Force-level award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the overall effectiveness of the rescue mission.
Ellsworth Air Force Base was the recipient of the 2019 Commander in Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence for Air Force Global Strike Command. Ellsworth AFB will move on to compete for the award at the Air Force level.

14 July 1974, General Carl "Tooey" Spaatz passed away: General Spaatz was the first Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force During his long military career, he had been one of the early pioneers of military aviation and strong advocate for a separate Air Force, independent from the U.S. Army. As a young officer, he experienced air combat in World War I; afterwards served as a test pilot with Ira Eaker, Hoy Barksdale, Elwood Quesada, Jimmy Doolittle, and others achieving several aviation records. As a young officer, Carl Spaatz testified in the 1925 court-martial of General Billy Mitchell. Later in World War II, General Spaatz oversaw the buildup of American airpower in the United Kingdom to include Eighth Air Force.

The U.S. Air Force Heartland of America Band paid a visit to the Black Hills last week as a way to celebrate Independence Day!
