28th Mission Support Group

The 28th Mission Support Group provides all essential base-operating support services for Ellsworth Air Force Base and combat-support services for an Air Expeditionary Wing. 1,600 military and civilian professionals in seven squadrons ensure civil engineering, communications, security, personnel support, contracting, logistical readiness and base services adequately support the 16,000 active duty, dependent, DoD civilians and military retirees living in the Rapid City area. Group squadrons manage more than $40 million in budget authority, 3,833 facilities and 5,000 acres of U.S. Air Force land.

-- 28th Civil Engineering Squadron

-- 28th Communications Squadron: Provides reliable, efficient and secure communications for rapid decisive and sustainable combat air power

-- 28th Contracting Squadron: Serves as the Business Advisor to the Commander of the 28th Bomb Wing. Provides premier business advice to all organizations on Ellsworth AFB. Looks to the Small Business Community first when filling requirements for construction, services and products.

-- 28th Force Support Squadron: The 28th FSS is composed of the Military Personnel Flight, Civilian Personnel Flight, Family Support Center, Base Education & Training Services, Manpower, Airman Leadership School, First Term Airman Center, Professional Developmental Education and Career Assistance Advisor. The Military and Civilian Personnel Flights and the Family Support Center are located in the Rushmore Center, 1000 Ellsworth St, and provide personnel service to all active-duty and retired military members and their families.
