QUESTION

Sir,

I am emailing the commander in regards to the youth center on base. I have a problem with the way things are being done during the summer months being that I work on the flightline and work swing shift. I have to pay for all day for him to go to the youth center when I sit at home till 1400. I called and asked if there were any half day options and they said no. I am wondering if there is something we can do to get half days put into the program because I am currently paying 135.00 a week for him to go.
Just a question I thought I would bring up!

  RESPONSE

First, thanks for trusting us with the care of your children. The school age summer camp is currently a full day program that offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities to interest and challenge the youth. We understand the complexities of families such as yourself who do work different shifts and as a result we will be convening our staff to explore other options that would be more accommodating to shift workers. It may not be changed this Summer but in the interim, we encourage parents that have children 9 years of age and older to use the open recreation program during the afternoons. In addition, we have licensed family childcare providers that offer hourly care to school aged children.

If these programs are something you are interested in, please call the Youth Center at 385-2277.
