The 28th Force Support Squadron held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the reopening of the Base Theater May 29.

Following a three-year closure, the theater now offers free admission to both new and older movies, with concessions offered by the 28th FSS and private organizations.

"We are reopening the base theater after it being closed for the last three years," said Capt. Kristen Miranda, 28th FSS assistant operations officer. "We go through the Navy Motion Picture Service, which provides the DVD player and projector. The program also provides an [assortment] of movies each month for us to provide to [our base population] free of charge."

During the grand opening, members from the squadron greeted patrons prior to entering the theater and handed out snacks.

"We want to make sure we're giving the customers and single Airmen what they want," Miranda added. "If this isn't what they want, they need to voice their opinions so we can adjust. Also, these aren't [all] older movies. We have fairly new movies such as Cinderella, which isn't on DVD yet."

On June 6 the theater will play Cinderella at 4 p.m. and Get Hard at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the doors will open 30 minutes prior to each showing. Concessions will be sold throughout the evening on a cash-only basis.
