Colonel Brandon D. Vigneron is the commander of the 28th Mission Support Group, Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. He leads a group of six squadrons with nearly 1,600 military, civilian, and contractor professionals in planning, organizing, and implementing installation security and services across the support continuum to include contracting, communications, engineering, logistics and personnel services for the combat mission assurance to power the largest operational B-1 wing in the U.S. Air Force, serving over 8,500 personnel and their families. He is also responsible for coordinating with key mission partners in the surrounding community and serves as an associate school board member representing military families with school-age children as part of the Air Force School Liaison Program. Prior to taking command, Col. Vigneron attended the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, where he earned a Master of Strategic Studies degree.
Col. Vigneron received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Prior to commissioning, he spent 10 years in the commercial information technology industry before entering the Air Force through Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, in April 2005.
Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of operational and leadership positions, including Flight Commander, Director of Operations, Cyberspace Operations Assignment Officer, Aide-de-Camp, and two Squadron Commander tours. He also deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve.
