Airmen of the Mighty Eighth,

We are about to add yet another spectacularly successful year to the history books.  In a little over a month, we are going to celebrate 75 years of projecting our nation’s bomber airpower -- and each and every one of you are a living piece of that legacy.  I would like to express my appreciation this holiday season for your commitment and your diligence in completing the duties that preserve the freedoms we hold dear.  Year after year you have answered our Nation’s call.  Your tireless efforts in the work center, your home and our community ensure our deterrence and assurance mission succeeds. Our Mighty Eighth Air Force has consistently led the fight with resolve and our engines have roared overhead -- ensuring the torch of liberty stays lit.  We are celebrating another successful year because you, the best bomber Airmen in the world, always get through.

As we close the year with the holidays I would like you to focus on pride…pride in service, mission and family.  Be proud of your service to our great nation.  Be proud of your commitment to the mission of ensuring peace around the world.  And ultimately, be proud in your family both at home and in the entire Mighty Eighth.  Barb and I are proud of you and thank you for the daily sacrifices each of you endure to keep our nation and allies safe and secure.  Know that, without fail, we see your selfless dedication and genuinely appreciate and treasure it.

2016 has been an incredible year and it now joins the last 75 years of excellence.  I look forward to facing the challenges of 2017 with each of you.  Thank you again for your drive and diligence, I am proud to serve with you in the Mighty Eighth Air Force.  Barb and I wish you happiness, health and prosperity for this holiday season and the upcoming year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Tom
