Wingman Day to raise Ellsworth’s spirits

The biannual Wingman Day event at Ellsworth Air Force Base is scheduled for Aug. 25, 2017.

Wingman Day is primarily focused on resiliency by helping Airmen understand and cope with the challenges of military life.

The mental and spiritual domains are the focus of Friday’s event. The mental tenants are awareness, adaptability, decision making and positive thinking. The spiritual tenants are core values, perseverance, perspective and purpose.

A mandatory Wing Commander’s Call will kick off the day’s itinerary at 7:30 a.m. at the Pride Hangar with several activities to follow.

There will also be a Summer Bash picnic taking place next to the dining facility from 1 to 3 p.m., where free games, food and beverages will be provided. Civilian clothes are permitted during the picnic.

Schedule permitting, every active duty member should attend two of the events, two individual resilience skills training, core talk, or other squadron discussion.

The Wingman Day’s events are as follows:

8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. In unit activities: resilience skills, core talks, Squadron training, TED Talks, YouTube videos.

9-10 a.m. The First Amendment, religion and spiritual resilience in the workplace at the Freedom Chapel Annex

9-10 a.m. Emotional intelligence presentation at the Black Hills Chapel Annex

10-11 a.m. Servant leadership at the Black Hills Chapel Annex

11 a.m. - Noon DUI, the rest of the story at the OSS auditorium

Noon -1:30 p.m. Digital security in a digital world, Hollie Strand at the Deployment Center Theater

Noon -1 p.m. Wet Lab, SFS preforming breath and sobriety checks on pre-selected participants location to be announced

2-3 p.m. Emotional intelligence presentation at the Black Hills Chapel Annex
