Education on the move

Airmen are inherently busy - many would argue too busy to leave their work centers - especially for something like getting a simple education question answered.

The 28th Force Support Squadron Education Office knows this, and has taken the initiative to bring their educational expertise to the very doorstep of the Airmen who need it.

"We've been taking our education office on the move by working with each individual squadron and finding out when and where we can set up shop, so we can visit Airmen and answer all of their questions," said Cheryl Holt, 28th FSS education services specialist. "With big things it's not hard to make time for an appointment, but for simple questions it's easier to just walk down the hall than to drive all across base."

While the program is relatively new - the staff has only visited two squadrons so far - the results are already obvious.

"It was awesome having them down here," said Tech. Sgt. Jacqueline Chant, 28th Communications Squadron client systems section chief. "It has really helped a number of our Airmen because they're never able to get away from their desks."

The education office plans to visit the 28th Bomb Wing Headquarters from noon to 4 p.m., May 20, the 28th Logistics Readiness Squadron from 8 a.m. to noon, May 21, the 28th Operations Group from 8 a.m. to noon, May 28, and the 28th Medical Group from noon to 4 p.m., May 29.
