The Ellsworth Officers' and Civilians' Spouses Club, a non-profit organization which combines a social club with community service, distributed five academic scholarships totaling $9,500 for the 2013 - 2014 academic year at a celebration luncheon, April 25.

The OCSC has a rich history of awarding scholarships to Ellsworth family members over the years.

"This is what we work for all year," said Tanya Rauch, OCSC scholarship chair. "We administer a lot of fundraisers to help military family members and spouses go to school."

This year there were 11 total applicants separated into either spouses or high school seniors. Selections were based on their current grade point average, community involvement and a written essay.

The recipients are:

Alexandria Ostler, Stevens High School senior.
Ellen Voigt, Rapid City Christian School senior.
Mary Edwards, Douglas High School senior.
Richard Sloan, Douglas High School senior.
Stephanie Torres, spouse of an active-duty Airman.
