Road, reporting condition updates to change early this month Published March 4, 2013 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- Early this month, Ellsworth will change the way it provides accurate and timely information about road and reporting condition changes during inclement weather. Base personnel and their families will be able to access information via the official Ellsworth Facebook page or by calling (605) 385-ROAD (7623). The road condition and reporting information will be regularly updated on these two sources to reflect the conditions at the time. "We've found that more and more of our base population use our official Facebook page as their primary source for up-to-date information, " said Maj. Matthew Reese, 28th Bomb Wing chief of Public Affairs. "Updates to our Facebook page will allow Airmen and their families to receive this vital information on their mobile devices in real-time, without any lag or delay." Until now, road and reporting condition changes have been posted directly on Ellsworth's public website. Technical issues within the centrally-hosted public web system, however, sometimes cause delays in road and reporting condition changes being updated on the main site. These system lags could potentially cause Ellsworth personnel to unnecessarily put themselves at risk during adverse weather conditions, Reese added. Facebook updates have supplemented the website's weather information for three years, and have proven immensely popular. The official 28th BW Facebook page can be accessed by links from Ellsworth's home page at www.ellsworth.af.mil. A Facebook account is not required to view the page. In addition to Facebook, road and reporting conditions will continue to be updated on (605) 385-ROAD (7623). For more information, call the 28th BW Public Affairs office at (605) 385-5056.
