The sun had barely started to set Oct. 31, when the cheerful chatter of children's voices echoed through the Pride Hangar during the 28th Bomb Wing Chapel's fall festival.

Amid the festival, Airmen and their families spent time together, competed in a Halloween costume contest, tried their hand in pumpkin bowling and their children played in bouncy castles.

"With work, deployments and additional activities that keep daily life hectic for our Airmen, this is a perfect opportunity for them to have some fun together," said Capt. Henry Jenkins, 28th BW chaplain.

Cynda Morton, 28th Civil Engineer Squadron operations secretary who attended the festival with her two children, Jocelyn and Kaden, said the event was a great way to spend the evening with her children.

"My husband recently deployed to Southwest Asia for the first time," Morton said. "It gets stressful sometimes, but days like this - bringing the kids out and spending quality time together - really helps."

During recent months, the 28th BW Chapel staff hosted a variety of events and programs aimed at strengthening the bond between Ellsworth families. Jenkins explained that this event was no different.

"This is our community - our extended family in blue," Jenkins added. "We do these types of events to help demonstrate our appreciation for the sacrifices made by our Airmen and their families."
