Flags at Ellsworth are flying at half-staff July 16, in honor of Senior Master Sgt. Jeffrey Dingus of the 28th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, who passed away July 10, at Rapid City Regional Hospital at the age of 44.

Dingus, a native of Baltimore, Md., was assistant superintendent of the 28th AMXS before he retired June 19, after 26 years of outstanding service.

"Every member of Team Ellsworth is saddened by the loss of one our own," said Col. Mark Weatherington, 28th Bomb Wing commander. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fellow Airmen. Jeff will be missed by all of us."

Dingus enlisted in the Air Force in 1986. He served a one-year tour in Iraq, but spent most of his career at Ellsworth.

A civilian memorial service for family, friends and colleagues was held at Cavalry Baptist Church July 14.

The cause of death is undetermined.
