Tops in Blue, the U.S. Air Force's premier entertainment showcase, will perform a free concert at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, S.D., at 7 p.m., July 2, as part of their worldwide tour.

Ellsworth's own Capt. Ashley Elmore, 28th Force Support Squadron manpower and personnel flight commander, is among those performing with this year's Tops in Blue troupe.

"I remember how I felt watching Tops in Blue while I was deployed, and I'm really excited that I will be able to give that back through my participation," said Elmore, who heralds from Lafontaine, Ind.

Tops in Blue, a special active-duty unit comprised of talented amateur performers, held its annual Air Force worldwide talent search at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas from Jan. 9 to 16, 2012. Airmen from around the globe auditioned and showcased their singing, instrumental, dance and specialty talents as well as their technical skills in stage production.

This year, Tops in Blue will showcase a variety of music from a variety of artists, including the Doobie Brothers, Earth, Wind and Fire, Whitney Houston, Maroon 5, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, and The Zac Brown Band. The tour schedule is made up of more than 130 performances in the United States and 25 foreign countries.
