QUESTION

Sir, I have some questions concerning the Dining Facility. When will it be reopened? Will it be a dining facility operated by civilian contractors or military? Who will be allowed to eat there (civilians, retirees, dependents, contractors)? What type of food and what meals will be served? Thanks for your time and attention on this matter so the rumors will stop.

  RESPONSE

We expect the new dining facility to open this fall (estimated by 1 Nov) - and when it does, you will also notice several important changes to the food services on base. First, Airmen on a meal card will enjoy campus-style dining benefits that allow them to get meals at the Dining Facility, Flight Kitchen, Dakota's Club, Bowling Center and Golf Course. Second, the DFAC will serve not only military members, but also civilians with base access, dependants, and retirees. Third, the refurbished DFAC will feature serving stations for salads, sandwiches and pizza, allowing customers to proceed directly to their station of choice. In addition, made-to-order and nutritious entrees will increase healthy dining options.

Bottom Line: This partnership between our Active Duty food service professionals and a nationally recognized food contractor will provide our Airmen with improved food quality, variety and availability, while maintaining home station and expeditionary feeding capabilities. I look forward to seeing you at the DFAC this fall.
