Airmen and their families enrolled in TRICARE may receive a fraudulent letter stating they've won a USA lottery sweepstakes and a check for $250,000 as part of a phishing scam attempting to collect their personal information.

Recent versions of these letters claim recipients have won a USA lottery sweepstakes, and that the money won is part of the winnings used to pay taxes and other fees. "Winners" are also instructed to return a portion of the money after the check is cashed.

TRICARE customers who believe they have received a fraudulent letter and check should contact their Managed Care Support Contractor Program Integrity Office, such as the TriWest Healthcare Alliance or Express Scripts, Inc.

For more information, or to report false documents received, e-mail the TRICARE Program Integrity Office at FRAUDLINE@tma.osd.mil or fax reports to (303) 676-3981.
