Base road closures to begin May 22 Published May 18, 2012 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- Construction projects intended to improve road surfaces on base begin May 22. Motorists on base should prepare for diverted traffic flow at several locations as a result: · The intersection of Ellsworth Street and Scott Drive will be closed from May 22 to June 8 due to road repairs on Ellsworth Street. A small section of Scott Drive will also be re-paved, but the road will remain open. · The intersection of LeMay Boulevard and Washington Avenue will be closed May 22 from 8 a.m. to noon for milling, however the 28th Medical Group clinic entrance on LeMay Boulevard will remain closed until June 8 for concrete work. The intersection will be closed again from May 29 to June 8 for asphalt paving. · The section of Eaker Drive east of Schreiver Street will be closed from May 30 to June 2. Airmen and their families will need to use alternate parking when accessing the softball fields. · The Pride Hangar parking lot will be closed from June 2 to June 12, but the concrete area will remain open. · The section of McConnell Drive between Bergstrom Drive and Twining Street will be closed from June 18 to 21. Airmen and their families will need to utilize alternate parking when using the football field. · The section of Kenney Road on the west side of the airfield will be closed from June 20 to 28. Alternate routes will be identified and temporary roads will be constructed where alternate routes are not available.
