QUESTION

I am a spouse to an airman of Ellsworth AFB, I am sorry if I am taking up your time, but I have a question to regards to what happened today after taking the zumba class. Here's my story, I have been taking this class multiple times before and when I do, I take my now 5 month old daughter with me. Mind you, she is in the stroller when class is starting till the end. She never fusses nor makes a sound, lets say she enjoys watching. Everyone enjoys her company. However, just today an issue was brought to me that I am not allowed to have her in the stroller with me while in class. Is there a reason for this? I just need a better understanding.

I also paid for an extra class thinking it was ok to take her because they never brought this issue to me up until today. If you can message me back with answers, I greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

  RESPONSE

Right now, I cannot allow children in the work-out room during fitness classes due to Air Force guidance and potential liability concerns--but I am pressing for a better solution for our community. Over the next few months, we will create a larger and more versatile family work-out space (with weights and cardio) and a larger children's area.

My Civil Engineering experts are designing the space now, and we expect to start construction this summer.

I applaud you for your dedication to fitness and pledge my full support to provide better access to fitness activities for our families.
