Bandit Ball Little League seeks volunteers Published May 8, 2012 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The Bandit Ball Little League, which plays on the fields located on Ellsworth Road near Prairie View Estates in Box Elder, S.D., is looking for volunteer umpires and board members. The league has a variety of teams, including a minor division for 8 to 11-year-old boys and a softball division for 8 to 12-year-old girls. Umpires are needed the most, according to Julie Berry, the BBLL president, but the league also has openings for an equipment manager and head umpire. Volunteers are needed for other areas as well. Volunteers can participate during registrations, practices and games. League registration and practices are from March to April each year, and games are played from May through June. Additional volunteer opportunities may be available during tournaments in June and July. Board members serve year-round. Airmen and family members who are interested in volunteering must be 18 or older, and will be required to pass a background check. Anyone interested in being a board member must also be able to attend monthly board meetings.
