Dorm Parking Lots

QUESTION

Just a question regarding the new parking lot in front of Borglum, since they made the parking lot smaller due to anti terrorism measures, which I am assuming, does this mean that people in Borglum will now be able to move out of the dorm itself? I only ask because the parking lot was crowded before, and now that it's smaller than before; it is overcrowded on the weekend.

  RESPONSE
Simple answer, no, this project does not change who or when residents can move out of the dorms. AFI 32-6005 requires E-1 thru E-3 and E-4 with less than 3YOS to live in the dormitories unless the supply of dormitory rooms proves insufficient. The DoD now requires added force protection measures on many new projects, like the recently completed Borglum Hall project. Although it creates a minor inconvenience of having to walk farther to park your car, it protects our Airman. There is ample parking for all dorm residents throughout Ellsworth's dormitory area--we have 869 parking spots throughout the campus area for 742 residents.
