QUESTION
Good morning,
My wife recently got selected for a random vehicle check while going out the commercial gate. Being part of the military for many years, we understand that this is part of life. The concern that she had was, she and my daughter were made to go into a room and shut the door. She was unable to see our vehicle during the search. Over the years, we were always allowed to monitor our vehicle during inspections. I tried to look in the AFIs and could not find any references in regards to these new inspection procedures. Could you please provide what the proper guidance is.

  RESPONSE
The 28th Security Forces Squadron commander personally researched this incident. Because this particular check took place inside the commercial vehicle search area, Security Forces personnel followed the established commercial vehicle search protocol. This was a mistake. Your wife and daughter should have been allowed to monitor this random installation entry point inspection. 28 SFS leaders have reinforced this policy with their personnel. Thanks for asking.
