Ellsworth to host Retiree Appreciation Day Published Sept. 14, 2011 By Staff Report 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The 28th Bomb Wing Retiree Activities Office will host a Retiree Appreciation Day in front of the Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. Base Exchange Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. "Retiree Appreciation Day is an opportunity for us to annually pass on new information pertinent to the retiree community," said Jim Cummings, 28th Bomb Wing Retiree Activities Office volunteer. Representatives from several on-base organizations will be on hand, from both 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., in the Base Exchange common area to discuss various estate planning tools, offer legal assistance, brief financial health, and showcase the wide variety of services available to military retirees. Organizations that will be present include, but are not limited to: · 28th Bomb Wing Legal Office · 28th Mission Support Group · Health and Wellness Center · Casualty Assistance · Tricare West · Military Officers Association of America · Veterans Affairs Office · Base Exchange · Base Commissary Visitors can register for several door prizes from various organizations that will be drawn during the luncheon at the Dakota's Club. Registrants must be present to win. Also, a buffet luncheon will be held at the Dakota's Club from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers. The guest speaker will be Col. Steven Hiss, 28th Bomb Wing vice commander. The event is open to all service members, spouses, widows, widowers and friends of service members. Finally, throughout the day, both the Base Exchange and Commissary will offer various specials and sale opportunities at their facilities.
