The creative masterpieces of children attending the Ellsworth Air Force Base Child Development Center are currently on display now through April 29 as part of the CDC's first ever children's art show.

"Every classroom in the CDC has done artwork," said Carol Heiser, 28th Force Support Squadron CDC administrative assistant. "This is something we've never done before, so we want to see how the parents like it."

Parents have the opportunity to bid on their child's artwork. Funds will be used for a Teacher Appreciation Day, May 6. The parents can view the art gallery, and place bids on paintings, in the hallways next to their child's classroom. The opening bid for all paintings is $1.

"The kids love doing artwork," Mrs. Heiser said. "Usually we will do small projects or let them be creative on their own. However, for this art show, each classroom did something special."

The CDC teachers say the children have truly enjoyed creating these special projects that are on display.

"Each child works on their own level," Petrina Hoover, 28th FSS CDC teacher. "There is a lot of heartfelt effort put into these little creations when the children know the projects are specially made for their parents."

Mrs. Heiser said the children get to learn about more than just painting when they do special projects.

"These projects teach children about socializing and working together," she said. "The art reflects their love for their parents and the project promotes their growth."
