Ellsworth wraps up CFC Published Dec. 13, 2010 By Senior Airman Jarad A. Denton 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The results are in and Airmen and civilian employees on Ellsworth Air Force Base have contributed more to the 2010 Combined Federal Campaign, a program which allows federal employees to promote and support charitable giving, then in 2009. Airmen and civilian employees on Ellsworth Air Force Base had the opportunity to donate to the charity of their choice, during the campaign from Sept. 1 to Dec. 3. "We wanted to exceed the amount donated last year of $122,502," said 1st Lt. Rebecca Gehrman, 28th Civil Engineer Squadron operations flight officer and CFC installation project officer. "This year the 28th Bomb Wing raised $124,499." Not only did Ellsworth beat last year's donation amount, but the base also exceeded the 2010 donation goal of $123,000 in six weeks. Lieutenant Gehrman said the CFC provides federal employees a unique opportunity to lend a helping hand to those in need. "The CFC allows the people of Ellsworth to give back to the local community, as well as other non-profit organizations," she said. "The program also provides a window of giving to limit year-round solicitations." Lieutenant Gehrman added that Ellsworth's 2010 campaign was marked by several substantial accomplishments by various organizations on base. "We had one team on base receive 100 percent contact, and 100 percent participation on the very first day of the CFC," she exclaimed. "The 28th Operations Group actually exceeded their initial goal by 300 percent." With the donation window closed, Ellsworth can look back on the campaign with pride, knowing that they were able to provide a better quality of life for the less fortunate. "I've been blessed with a lot of things in life," said Senior Airman Lourditha Quintanilla, 28th Comptroller Squadron financial analyst. "It only seems right to share it with others."
