ID card Issuance Requires Two Forms of Identification Published Dec. 2, 2010 By 28th Force Support Squadron ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- In compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, persons now requesting new CAC cards or IDs for spouses or dependent IDs over the age of 20 must present two identity source documents. One identification item must be a valid State or Federal government issued picture identification. A few examples of the acceptable second identity documents are a social security card, passport voter registration card, birth certificate or school photo id. This heightened identity proofing is to ensure that we issue identity credentials to all those who should have them and to no one who is not entitled. The credentials that we issue through the Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) are used for both logical and physical access. This includes our military bases, office/work spaces, family housing, dependent schools, hospitals, commissaries, and exchanges. For more information please call DEERS/ID Cards at (605) 385-2446.
