The 28 CCS was dissolved into two squadrons and the 28th Comptroller Squadron was assumed at a ceremony in the Pride Hangar, July 12.

Ken Tritsch, 28th Contracting Squadron flight chief, said, "the Air Combat Command decided to test two of Ellsworth's squadrons as one for a year - as part of an Air Force initiative, but decided against a conversion to the new format and instead went back to the old structure."

Capt. Lisa Welmers, 28 CPTS financial analysis flight commander said the split had to do mostly with logistics and the decision to separate the joined squadrons came down from the top.

Lt. Col. Christine Wasdin, the first and only commander of the 28 CCS, passed the proverbial torch to Maj. Erik N. Dunn, who stepped up July 12, to lead the newly-formed 28 CPTS and carry on the wing's mission to put bombs on target.

Major Dunn said his main objective in assuming command is to continue the partnership established between the 28th Comptroller and 28th Contracting Squadrons.

"Partnership is the reason the two squadrons were combined in the first place," he said.

Major Dunn described his leadership goal as threefold, "the objectives of the 28 CPTS are to resource squadrons by making sure they have everything they need, to focus on supporting Airmen and to deploy ourselves."
