Indescribable experience Published Feb. 12, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Jarad A. Denton 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- "I thought it was a scam," said Senior Airman Mitch Waddell, 28th Force Support Squadron, lodging operations technician. "I got this e-mail telling me I had won, and the only thought in my head was: 'nothing in this world is free.'" After confirming the validity of the e-mail, Airman Waddell called his wife, Lori, and told her they had just won tickets to Super Bowl XLIV, Feb. 7. "I thought he was joking," she said. Airman Waddell won the tickets after entering the Super Bowl Football Frenzy give-away, sponsored by the Air Force through the Dakota's Club on base. At first, Mrs. Waddell thought they had just won tickets to the game. However, once all the details were explained she and her husband realized the tickets included an entire Super Bowl experience. "I had no idea it was a five day trip," she said. "Every moment of it was phenomenal." Airman Waddell agreed with his wife as he reflected on the trip they had won. "It was an indescribable experience," Airman Waddell said. We rode to the Super Bowl in a stretch limousine and spent three hours before the game at a party where we met NFL players, he said. Additionally, Airman Waddell said he enjoyed watching the game from the stadium, as opposed to at home on television. "The highlight for me was watching Payton Manning play like himself for the first quarter," he said. Airmen Waddell and his wife won the trip out of all other participants in Air Combat Command. The Dakota's Club plans to hold the football frenzy drawing for next season's Super Bowl.
