Wing Climate Assessment Published Dec. 3, 2009 By 28th Bomb Wing Equal Opportunity Office ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The 28th Bomb Wing Climate Assessment is scheduled for January 2010. The purpose of this assessment is to provide Col. Jeffrey Taliaferro, 28th Bomb Wing commander, insight into factors that may impact mission accomplishment, unit effectiveness and the human relations environment at Ellsworth. The program identifies both positive and negative factors and allows members to propose corrective actions, when appropriate. This assessment provides all Ellsworth personnel an opportunity to express their thoughts, opinions and feelings regarding the wing. It is being conducted by the 28th Bomb Wing equal opportunity office and will address key issues such as: unit cohesion and pride; motivation and morale; supervisory support; communication between squadron members and their supervisors; attitudes and perceptions of assigned personnel of different ranks, races, ethnic backgrounds, and sexes; and overall wing health. To properly assess the wing's climate, Colonel Taliaferro requests all personnel complete a web-based survey. Everyone will receive an email from the EO staff containing an instruction sheet on where to log on to the Internet survey site and how to gain access to the site to complete the survey. The survey can be accessed and completed from any computer with Internet access, either at work or at home. The survey will ask demographic information, such as rank, race, and sex. The demographic information will then be used to show the representation of participants and possible trends and cannot be linked to any specific individual. To further protect participants' anonymity, when there are less than six respondents within any demographic area, individual responses will not be visible. An (*) will hide the answer, but it will still count towards the total score. The results will be used to improve the human relations climate and to better the working environment within the wing. This is Ellsworth's opportunity to share what is working well, what could be improved, and suggestions for doing so. Written comments will be included exactly as submitted, but will not be linked to other survey responses. The survey will start on Jan. 6, 2010 and will last until Jan. 20, 2010, with an option to extend the deadline if enough responses are not received by that time. Remember - everyone will receive an e-mailed letter from Colonel Taliaferro explaining how and when to take the survey. For any additional questions concerning the assessment or the survey, contact any member of the EO staff: Mr. Bell (385-1752), TSgt Nagy (385-1341), or TSgt Hollomon (385-1342).
