During the week beginning Oct. 5, there will be temporary closures to some gates due to barrier testing and training. The tests should not be long in duration. The testing schedule is as follows:

· Sunday, Oct. 5: The barrier manufacturer will change out the barrier's electric brakes with upgraded stainless steel models. The team will work on the Patriot and Bismarck Gates first, since they are closed on Sundays. Next, upgrades will be made to the Davis and Schriever barriers at the Liberty Gate, closing Lemay Boulevard and Ellsworth Street.

· Monday, Oct. 6: Contractors will inspect Davis and Schriever control panels, as well as battery back-up systems and touch screens at the Liberty Gate. They will also power-up the barriers, adjust limit switches if necessary and test run barriers with assistance from 28th Security Forces. Davis Drive and Schriever Street will be closed to faciliate this, but not at the same time.

· Tuesday, Oct. 7: Contractors will inspect the control panel, battery back-up system and touch screen at the Bismarck Gate. They will also power-up the barriers, adjust limit switches if necessary and test run barriers with assistance from 28 SFS. The Bismarck Gate will not be closed for this, it will have a detour route.

Contractors will also inspect the control panel, battery back-up system and touch screen at the Patriot Gate, as well as power-up the barriers, adjust limit switches if necessary and test run barriers with assistance from 28 SFS. The Patriot Gate will not be closed for this, it will have a detour route. School buses will be running between 7 and 8:10 a.m. and 3 and 3:45 p.m., so there will be no work done at these times.

· Thursday, Oct. 9: Operators training will be conducted in the morning with 28 SFS assistance for traffic control at the Liberty Gate. In the afternoon, maintenance training will be conducted, requiring blocking of one lane, and the Liberty gate will be closed for a short time.
