Airman found guilty in court martial Published Dec. 11, 2007 By Staff Sgt. Eric Bolt 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- A 28th Operations Support Squadron Airman 1st Class, plead guilty during a court martial at Ellsworth Dec. 4. "This Airman's core value was self before service," said Capt. Bryon Greene, 28th Bomb Wing Judge Advocate court martial lead prosecutor. "A lack of self control and a violent disposition warranted confinement." The 28th OSS Airman was convicted of 14 charges, Capt. Greene said. The charges included fraudulent enlistment, destruction of government property, wrongful use of marijuana, wrongful use of cocaine, wrongful use of Klonopin, wrongful use of Demerol, wrongful distribution of cocaine, wrongful introduction and intent to distribute cocaine, wrongful distribution of Demerol, two counts of assault consummated by battery, cruelty of an animal, drunk and disorderly conduct and adultery. This Airman faced a maximum sentencing of 64 years and 9 months confinement, dishonorable discharge and total forfeitures, Captain Greene said. The defense council argued for a maximum of one year of confinement for the charges he faced. "We believed when considering the whole person concept and all facts and circumstances surrounding the offenses that one year would have been sufficient for the offenses [the Airman] pled guilty to," said Maj. Tiwana Wright, Offutt Air Force Base, court martial senior defense counsel. The 28th OSS Airman was sentenced to 45 months of confinement, reduction in rank to airman basic, total forfeitures of pay and a bad-conduct discharge. The Air Force corrections system will determine where this Airman will serve out his sentence.
