Ellsworth's Air Force Combined Federal Campaign kicked off Sept. 24 and will run through Oct. 12. All military and civilians employees on Ellsworth can contribute to the CFC. The CFC raises money for various national and local charities.

Over the next three weeks, Ellsworth will attempt to raise $90,000. Each squadron has a dedicated point-of-contact for the CFC. The points-of-contact are tasked to get 100 percent face-to-face contact with all 28th Bomb Wing personnel.

"This is our opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause that will impact the lives of others, especially charities in our local community," said Tech. Sgt. Richard Parsons, 28th Civil Engineering Squadron's Base Emergency Engineer Force Management and CFC squadron point-of-contact. "This is a simple way of practicing the 'Golden Rule.' You never know if you will be the one who needs help."

Airmen can ensure their donations stay in the local area by selecting local charities on the sign-up form.

Many Ellsworth base quality-of-life organizations receive funding through the CFC.

"CFC assists the base in maintaining quality operational facilities for our youth," said Captain Terrell Freeman, 28th Operations Group executive officer and CFC program manager. "It also provides entire meals to our Airmen during Thanksgiving and Christmas, which can be some of the most difficult times of year for families needing a little assistance."

Participants also have the option of donating to a national charity.

"There are roughly 2,000 charities listed in the booklet to choose from," said Master Sergeant Jessica Nester, 28th Medical Support Squadron Pharmacy Services and CFC squadron point-of-contact. "An entire page is devoted to Black Hills area charities and two pages for Ellsworth."
