Secretary of the Air Force Michael Wynne will be on hand to celebrate the grand opening of the new Air Force Financial Services Center Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. John Vonglis, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for financial management and who lead the creation and development of the center, will also be on hand for the grand opening. Secretary Wynne will preside over the grand opening and assumption of command ceremony.

"The AFFSC is an example of our journey down a road toward self-improvement," Secretary Wynne said in a recent Air Force News article.

The Air Force Financial Services Center is part of the Air Force's overall financial management transformation effort. At its full operational capability, it will consolidate current Air Force financial services by opening a central processing center and a 24-hour call center manned by up to 775 civilian and military personnel, who will perform financial service transactions and respond to customer inquiries. As part of the Air Force's Smart Operations for the 21st Century ideal, the center will lead the way for new Air Force systems that will enable most financial services, such as travel vouchers and allotments, to be handled via the Web.

"This new center will save the Air Force more than $200 million in the first 10 years after the center opens," Mr. Vonglis said in a recent Air Force News story. "Additionally, our Airmen will see faster processing of their transactions and quicker responses to their financial inquiries through the use of Web-based services."
