Ellsworth’s retiree activities committee re-energized Published May 7, 2007 By Tech. Sgt. Steven Wilson 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The retiree activities committee here is hurtling toward a series of events tailor-made for military retirees and their families in the local area. The first initiative is to gather contact data for all local retirees in the area, said Leroy Fogle, Ellsworth retiree activity officer. This contact information will allow for retired military personnel to stay apprised of the local happenings geared toward retirees in the Ellsworth area. Several events are in the works for military retirees. A retiree luncheon scheduled for August 28 will allow retirees to interface with Ellsworth's active duty populace as well as meet the 28th Bomb Wing commander. Another activity specifically slated for military retirees is the annual retiree activity day, scheduled for mid-September. This event features several information booths designed to meet the unique needs of retirees in areas such as legal advice, medical care and benefits. The day will be capped off by a commissary case-lot sale. "We're really looking at ways to transform this committee into a top-notch vehicle tailored to meet the needs of our military retirees in the local area," said Maj. Jonathan Creer, 28th Bomb Wing director of staff and wing representative for the committee. "I encourage retired personnel to contact our wing retiree activities office so we can ensure they get the information they need as well as provide the wing feedback on what they'd like to see here."
