A free to the public open house event is scheduled for June 23 at Ellsworth Air Force Base.

This year's open house is centered on a bomber heritage theme.

"I cordially invite all of our neighbors in surrounding communities to come out and spend the day with us," said Col. Jeffry Smith, 28th Bomb Wing commander. "This will truly be a fine display of our Nation's airpower as well as give our friends outside Ellsworth's gates a chance to meet some of the professional men and women that comprise our great Air Force."

The open house will feature static displays including the A-10 Thunderbolt, B-2 Spirit, B-52 Stratofortress and, of course, Ellsworth's own B-1 Lancer.

Other static displays are being worked and will be announced as they are added to the event schedule.

"We're in the process of fine tuning the events and entertainment," said Maj. Douglas Bodine, Ellsworth's open house project officer. "But, I can tell you this will be a world class event. I think everyone who attends will leave here with a great appreciation of America's bomber heritage and our present bomber fleet."

Other features of the open house are scheduled to include a Kid's Zone, vendors and working demonstrations by Ellsworth's Airmen in their specialized career fields.
More details will be released as they become available.
