Events continue to solidify for Ellsworth's open house scheduled for June 23rd here.
Col. Bruce Emig, 28th Bomb Wing vice -commander, provided a few details on one of the featured events visitors can expect.

"One of the events we're planning is a B-1, low-altitude airfield attack," said Colonel Emig.

Colonel Emig said, as a member of the B-1 flying community, he knows this facet of the open house will highlight some of the extraordinary capabilities of Ellsworth's Lancer bombers.

"The B-1 was originally designed as a low-level bomber, and it's absolutely impressive in this role," he said. "If you haven't seen it before, it's awesome to see this big jet sweep its wings back and fly in low and fast over a target.

"I'm looking forward to showcasing it to our visitors this year," he added.

Other aerial events in the works include an A-10 Warthog demonstration and a bomber heritage flyby over the airfield.

Other details will be released by 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs as they become available.
