Recent vandalism in several vacant sections of military family housing has prompted increased security measures.

"We actively patrol the area with the intent to capture perpetrators," said Maj. Erik Bruce, 28h Security Forces Squadron commander.

Several housing units were damaged throughout; the assessed value is undetermined, but any damage is unacceptable to base members.

Residents have already seen multiple measures taken to secure the area. Civil engineering contractors are building fences to surround the vacant areas. A concentration of security forces airmen and assets now patrol the area, and soon, high-tech camera systems will be deployed to monitor the areas around the clock.

"Individuals who are taking part in this type of criminal activity need to understand that it will not be tolerated," said Col. Renita Alexander, 28th Mission Support Group commander.

Pride in our base starts with each individual, and the base's appearance is a joint effort, officials said. In addition to the emphasis being placed on this issue by law enforcement and wing leadership, each Military Family Housing resident can be active in deterring delinquent activity. MFH residents should promptly report any suspicious activity to the 28th Security Forces law enforcement desk at 385-4001.
