Nightingale drops 30 on CS in bomb squadrons’ victory Published Jan. 31, 2006 By Mr. Joe Drab 28th SVS ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, SD -- Justin Nightingale lit up the scoreboard Jan. 19 for 30 points, leading the 34th Bomb Squadron/37th Bomb Squadron to a 49-35 victory over the 28th Communications Squadron in intramural basketball National League action at the Bellamy Fitness Center. Nightingale’s scoring spree was almost enough in itself to handle the talented CS team. Justin Calmes added 12 points in the bomb squadrons’ win. Dominic Calcutt scored 12 and Mark Jorgensen 11 in a losing effort for CS. The win gives the bomb squadrons sole possession of third place in the National League. 28th MUNS 66, 28th CPTS/28th CONS 35 The 28th Munitions Squadron blew away the 28th Comptroller Squadron/28th Contracting Squadron, 66-35, Jan. 17 for its first win of the intramural basketball National League season. Talmage Williams set the pace for MUNS, leading his team with 21 points. James Heatherly chipped in 15 and Woodard Moore added 14 in the victory. CPTS/CONS was led by 20 points from Raphael Carranza. 28th CES ‘A’ 45, 34th BS/37th BS 44 The 28th Civil Engineer Squadron ‘A’ team held off the bomb squadrons 45-44 Jan. 17 in intramural basketball National League action. Nightingale led the bomb squadrons (2-2) with 17 points. 28th LRS 69, 28th CS 49 Kenneth Ireland scored 18 and Kyle Rogier scored 17 to lead the 28th Logistics Readiness Squadron to a 69-49 intramural basketball National League win over CS (1-3) Jan. 17. Darnell Watts led CS with 22 points, and Calcutt added 15 in the loss. 28th MDG/28th SVS 55, 28th SFS 37 The 28th Medical Group/28th Services Squadron remained undefeated in intramural basketball American League play with a 55-37 win over the 28th Security Forces Squadron Jan. 18. MDG/SVS (3-0) was led in scoring by Joshua Trenkle and Tony Carter, who scored 16 and 10 points, respectively. Jonathan Hawkins scored 12 for SFS (1-2), and Edward Oslica chipped in 8. 28th CES ‘B’ 52, 28th MXS 46 The CES ‘B’ team remained tied atop the intramural basketball American League with a 52-46 victory over the 28th Maintenance Squadron Jan. 18. Donrico Hooker paced CES ‘B’ (3-0) with 17 points. Randall Parrish and Shane Hofstad each scored 13 points for MXS (1-2). 28th LRS 52, 28th CPTS/28th CONS 20 LRS knocked off CPTS/CONS, 52-20, Jan. 19 to remain undefeated in the intramural basketball National League. Rogier led all scorers with 14 points in the win for LRS (4-0). Myer Gribbins and Vincent Eata scored 6 points each for CPTS/CONS (0-4). 28th CES ‘A’ 58, 28th MUNS 46 CES ‘A’ beat MUNS 58-46 Jan. 19 in intramural basketball National League action. Kody Schlageter led CES ‘A’ (4-0) with 25 points. Moore scored 21 in a losing effort for MUNS (1-3). The win puts CES ‘A’ in a first-place tie with LRS.
