Trenkle, Oguinn lead MDG/SVS to 2-0 start

The 28th Medical Group/28th Services Squadron coasted to two early season victories this past week at the Bellamy Fitness Center, knocking off the 28th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron 66-49 Jan. 9 and the 28th Operations Support Squadron 83-58 Jan. 11 in intramural basketball action.

Joshua Trenkle carried MDG/SVS (2-0) to victory over AMXS, pouring in 26 points to lead all scorers. Bruce Oguinn added 10 points in the win for MDG/SVS, while Jammieon Collins scored 14 for AMXS.

Oguinn took command for MDG/SVS in the victory over OSS, leading his team with 28 points. Trenkle added 20 for MDG/SVS, and Rodrigus Bowden chipped in 13 more. OSS was led by Justin Myers’ 19 points, and Tino Redhouse and John Henry each contributed 15.

The two wins put MDG/SVS in a first-place tie with the 28th Civil Engineer Squadron ‘B’ team in the American League through Jan. 13. The teams will meet Monday at 7 p.m. and Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Bellamy Fitness Center.

28th CES ‘B’ 67, 28th OSS 48

CES ‘B’ ran away with a 67-48 intramural basketball victory over OSS (0-2) Jan. 9.

Donrico Hooker paced CES ‘B’ with 21 points. Nathan Jaynes and Andre Fortenberry added 16 for the civil engineers. Redhouse knocked down a game-high 27 points to lead OSS.

28th SFS 45, 28th MXS 44

The 28th Security Forces Squadron edged the 28th Maintenance Squadron 45-44 in intramural basketball Jan. 9.

Roderick Groomster and Derious Footman led a balanced SFS attack with 13 points apiece. Shane Hofstad and Joseph Majkut led MXS with 13 and 9 points, respectively.

28th CS 49, 28th MUNS 46

The 28th Communications Squadron held off the 28th Munitions Squadron 49-46 in intramural basketball action Jan. 10.

Dominic Calcutt led the way for CS with 18 points. Mark Jorgensen added 10 in the victory. Woodard Moore put up 18 points to lead MUNS.

28th CES ‘A’ 75, 28th CPTS/28th CONS 24

The 28th CES ‘A’ team dominated the 28th Comptroller Squadron/28th Contract-ing Squadron by a 75-24 margin in intramural basketball Jan. 10.

Mitchell Zipprich paced the CES ‘A’ barrage, scoring 25 points, and Austin Holling-shead pitched in 13 more for the winners. Anthony Rosen and Justin Hughes led CPTS/CONS with 8 points apiece.

28th LRS 49, 34th BS/37th BS 42

The 28th Logistics Readiness Squadron held off the 34th Bomb Squadron/37th BS 49-42 in an intramural basketball contest Jan. 10.

Kyle Rogier led LRS with 14 points. Andrew McDowell scored 15 points and David Grasso scored 13 in a losing effort for the bomb squadrons.

28th MXS 46, 28th AMXS 45 (OT)

MXS (1-1) outlasted AMXS (0-2) 46-45 in overtime in intramural basketball action Jan. 11.

Hofstad scored 10 points to lead MXS. Kenneth Donald pitched in 9 for the win. Ronald Butler scored 12 for AMXS in the loss.

28th CES ‘B’ 46, 28th SFS 41

CES ‘B’ (2-0) stayed undefeated in intramural basketball with a 46-41 win over SFS (1-1) Jan. 11.

Hooker and Fortenberry paved the way for CES ‘B’ with 12 and 9 points respectively. SFS was led by Groomster’s 11 points.

28th LRS 40, 28th MUNS 37

LRS (2-0) knocked off MUNS (0-2) 40-37 in intramural basketball Jan. 12.

Kenneth Ireland led LRS with 11 points. MUNS was led by Talmage Williams’ 13 points.

28th CES ‘A’ 41, 28th CS 36

CES ‘A’ (2-0) forced a tie atop the intramural basketball National League standings with a 41-36 triumph over CS (1-1) Jan. 12.

Kody Schlageter scored 14 points and Zipprich added 12 in the victory. Calcutt led all CS scorers with 14 points.

34th BS/37th BS 64,

28th CPTS/28th CONS 40

The bomb squadrons (1-1) handled CPTS/CONS (0-2) 64-40 in intramural basketball Jan. 12.

Justin Calmes led all scorers, netting 22 for the bomb squadrons. CPTS/CONS got 9 points apiece from Nicholas Klangos, Rosen and Hughes.
