Members of Ellsworth AFB and surrounding communities are invited to participate in a public workshop at the Black Hills Visitor Information Center, Rapid City, S.D., Feb. 11, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The event, hosted by the South Dakota Ellsworth Development Authority, in cooperation with Ellsworth Air Force Base and other agencies, will provide attendees the opportunity to give input on a joint land use study and address compatibility planning around the base.

The primary objective of the JLUS is to reduce potential conflicts between Ellsworth and surrounding areas while accommodating new growth and economic development, protecting public health and safety, and sustaining the operational missions of the base.

In order to develop a study and recommendations that are responsive to local needs, SDEDA said input from the community is critical, and they encourage the public to attend this workshop to learn more about the JLUS process.
