DoD Identifies Air Force Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of six Airmen who were supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel. They died Dec. 21 of wounds sustained when their patrol was attacked by a suicide bomber on a motorcycle near Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.

Among the six fatalities are four OSI Special Agents who died while deployed to the Expeditionary Detachment 2405, Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. They died outside Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered in the attack.   

"It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of the deadliest day in our command's history.  We lost four brave Special Agents and two patriotic Security Forces members on a joint patrol outside of Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, Monday, Dec. 21," said Brig. Gen. Keith M. Givens, OSI Commander. "The OSI family will undoubtedly rise to the occasion yet again and honor these great Americans, but for now, I ask for your thoughts and prayers to go out to the families and loved ones of the Fallen," Gen. Givens added.

The OSI Special Agents killed were:

OSI Special Agent (Major) Adrianna M. Vorderbruggen, 36, of Plymouth, Minnesota. She was assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, 9th Field Investigations Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

OSI Special Agent (Staff Sgt.) Michael A. Cinco, 28, of Mercedes, Texas. He was assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, 11th Field Investigations Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas.

OSI Special Agent (Staff Sgt.) Peter W. Taub, 30, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Detachment  816, Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. 

OSI Special Agent (Staff Sgt.) Chester J. McBride, 30, of Statesboro, Georgia. He was assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Detachment 405, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

The two Security Forces members killed in the attack were:

Technical Sgt. Joseph G. Lemm, 45, of The Bronx, New York City, New York. He was assigned to the 105th Security Forces Squadron, Stewart Air National Guard Base, New York.

Staff Sgt. Louis M. Bonacasa, 31, of Coram, New York. He was assigned to the 105th Security Forces Squadron, Stewart Air National Guard Base, New York.
