Ellsworth celebrated the completion of a new community center with a ribbon cutting Oct. 7.

The center will serve as a place base residents can reserve for events or attend those hosted by Balfour Beatty Communities, the contractor of Ellsworth's privatized housing on base.

"BBC will house Lifeworks Events here regularly with the intent of strengthening the sense of community and belonging for military families, and these events are open to all interested," said Deana Fulton, BBC community manager. "Also, all residents living in BBC housing will be able to reserve the great room for their personal events, such as birthdays and social gatherings."

Additionally, the building will be a location for both the BBC team and the Government Housing Management office, providing "one-stop" customer service for servicemembers applying for privatized housing.

BBC is also constructing a patio, complete with a grilling area and pergola, to be located next to its lighted basketball court, said James English, 28th Civil Engineer Squadron housing program manager.
