Airmen participated in a series of activities throughout the day in an effort to promote the physical pillar of the Comprehensive Airman Fitness concept, Sept. 3.

The physical pillar of the CAF program is designed to build a balanced and healthy lifestyle by performing and excelling in physical activities derived through exercise, nutrition and training.

Approximately 110 Airmen and civilian employees attended the morning's 5K run, one of the main events that kicked off the day's program.

"We're usually in the office from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. most days, so it's a relief to get out and do something like this," said Capt. Ryan Plourde, 34th Bomb Squadron pilot. "It's something to take our minds off of whatever we're working on back at the office."

Other activities included bubble soccer, bowling, walleyball and a strength competition.

"We try to plan these events ourselves, so when they're already planned for us, it's a lot easier to get out," said Capt. Matthew Shields, 34th Bomb Squadron weapons system operator. "It's a bond... beyond work and the office to come out here and play, have a little sportsmanship and competition."
