The 28th Bomb Wing hosted a Street Smart presentation at the Pride Hangar Aug. 28.

The goal of the program is to educate audiences on the consequences of distracted and drunk driving using graphic imagery and videos of real victims.

Airmen had the opportunity to hear real-life experiences from paramedics who work to save lives of car accident victims. They also participated in a scenario discussion and a physical demonstration of life-saving medical procedures.

"The biggest thing I want people to take from these presentations is the importance of using common sense while driving," said Oscar Duran, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedic.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Motor Vehicle Safety department, 3,328 people were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver in 2012. An additional 421,000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver in 2012.
