ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The 28th Medical Group Public Health office has an updated Public Health Advisory regarding seasonal influenza.
The Centers for Disease Control estimates each year on average 5 to 20 percent of the U.S. population contracts influenza, resulting in the hospitalization of more than 200,000 people. The single best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get your annual flu vaccination. Other good health habits to avoid the flu are to avoid close contact with people who are sick, cover your mouth and nose with tissue when coughing or sneezing, wash your hands with soap and water regularly, stay home when sick if possible and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
