28th MDG updates Public Health Advisory Published Nov. 14, 2014 By 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The 28th Medical Group Public Health office has updated its recent Public Health Advisory regarding proper food handling during the holiday season. According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly 5,000 deaths are the result of improperly cooked holiday food every year. Eating foods that are not thoroughly cooked or improperly refrigerated is the leading cause of these illnesses. Cooking foods at high temperatures along with ensuring proper refrigeration can help stop the growth of disease causing bacteria which can lead to possible food poisoning.
