On-base bus service for Douglas School District military dependents Published Sept. 30, 2014 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The 28th Bomb Wing will sponsor a bus service for military dependents who reside on base and are enrolled in the Douglas School District beginning in early November 2014. According to base officials, a contract for the service was awarded to improve the safety and security of students travelling to school. The bus service is intended to mitigate risks presented by walking distances greater than 1 or 1.5 miles (age dependent per DoD regulation), inclement weather conditions, and traffic congestion near the schools. Additional information about the bus service routes and times will be distributed prior to the start of bussing.
