BOIL ORDER EXPECTED TO LIFT TUESDAY Published Aug. 24, 2014 By 28th Bomb Wing Public Affairs ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -- The 28th Bomb Wing commander and other base leaders held a town hall meeting today with residents from the base and Antelope Ridge to provide an update on the current boil order in effect for Ellsworth, Antelope Ridge and Vandenberg Elementary school. Base officials expect to resolve the issue and lift the order by Tuesday, Aug. 26. Those affected are advised to continue to follow all previous safety precautions, most importantly boiling water before consumption. Families who currently have their water shut off should expect it to be restored from 4 to 8 p.m. The 28th Civil Engineer Squadron is currently working to restore the water and will inform those specific residents of further instructions to ensure water lines have been flushed out properly. Until the water is restored, the Bellamy Fitness Center on Ellsworth will have extended hours to provide restroom facilities for affected residents. Portable bathrooms will also be made available near homes without water until lines are restored. Pallets of bottled water have been provided for those that live and work in the affected homes and facilities, both on base and in Antelope Ridge. These cases of bottled water can be picked up at the welcome center in Antelope Ridge, the mailbox areas in base housing, the 28th Medical Group, the Child Development Center and the Youth Center. Additionally, Ellsworth is working with the Vandenberg Elementary school staff to ensure faculty and students have clean water. Pallets of water will be provided for specific locations on base that are not designed for mass distribution, to include dormitories and workplaces. Ellsworth is continuing to work closely with regional EPA offices and additional information will be provided when available.
