Airmen, family members and base and community leaders attended a luncheon in the Dakota's Club, March 4, in an effort to show support and appreciation for veterans.

The event was hosted by members of the Retiree Activities Office and was designed to provide retired servicemembers information about benefits and programs available to them.

Lori Symonsbergen, United Health Care beneficiary services and education representative, attended the event and answered questions regarding recent changes to the Tricare program's mail order system for medications.

"We're here to take care of those who served our great nation," said Symonsbergen. "Dealing with change can be difficult for all of us, but we need to embrace change and see the benefits that come with them."

Army (Ret.) Col. Alvin Morgan began participating in retiree functions to stay informed about changes to veteran programs.

"It's important for retirees to maintain contact with each other and meet with active duty members because the military is a fellowship," Morgan said. "We can help each other out in a lot of ways. I appreciate being invited to these luncheons. I have a lot of respect for the men and women of the military."
