Anthony's Pizza

QUESTION

Col. Kennedy,

Many of us in the AGE shop were discussing the current food choices here at the BX. We noticed how no one eats at Anthony's Pizza and how no one enjoys it either. We feel that it is a waste of an opportunity for a good restaurant. Most bases have a Popeye's and we feel this would be an excellent substitution/replacement to Anthony's Pizza. Just food for thought, thank you.

  RESPONSE

Thank you for your suggestion concerning restaurants at Ellsworth. At this time, Anthony's is a profitable restaurant with a good lunchtime business - though limited to three hours per day as you noted. Based on the business model and projected customers, it does not make fiscal sense to bring in a new restaurant in the Anthony's space (required investment is too large based on the projected customer traffic). However, AAFES continually assesses new food options and the traffic through the existing restaurants. In the 2015-2016 time frame, the addition of 214 on-base houses will likely change the projections and may offer an opportunity to assess different options for the Anthony's space with another restaurant such as Popeye's. We will pass along your interest in Popeye's to the AAFES manager, but for now the fried chicken fix will have to come from somewhere else. I highly recommend the buffalo wings at the bowling alley!
